Deadmag Blowfly Strike Dressing Fluid

Overview: For the treatment of blowfly struck sheep. When applied as directed this product will protect aginst fly strike for up to 20 days.

General Instructions


Mix the required quantity of Deadmag with water in a suitable container until a uniform emulsion is produced. Mixes readily with hard or soft water. To  prevent maggots from spreading and establishing outwards, fleece should be clipped well back all around the struck area.



  1. Clip wool over struck area and for a further 10 cm margin around the wound
  2. Saturate struck area thoroughly. Saturate affected area and surrounding wool using a soft brush, working wash well into the affected area. Ensure that no maggots escape into surrounding fleece.
  3. Re-inspect affected animals the following day to ensure no areas of strike were missed.



DO NOT collect and re-use fluid which runs off.


DO NOT USE on lactating ewes where milk or milk products may be used for human consumption.

Dangerous to fish. DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or used containers.


Safety Directions


Product is poisonous if absorbed by skin contact or swallowed. Repeated minor exposure may have a culmative poisoning effect. Will damage eyes. Will irritate the nose, throat and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhalng vapour. When opening the container, mixing and using the prepared solution, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), a washable hat, PVC or rubber apron, elbow-length PVC gloves and goggles or safety glasses. If product on skin, immediately wash area with soap and water. If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with water. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day's use, wash gloves and goggles or safety glasses and contaminated clothing.



Store below 30oC (room temperature). Store in original container, tightly closed.



Triple or (preferably) pressure rinse into the medicated water. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. Break, crush, or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty containers and product should not be burnt.




Withholding Periods

(MEAT): DO NOT USE less than 14 days before slaughter for human consumption.


(MILK): DO NOT USE on lactating ewes where milk or milk products may be used for human consumption


(WOOL): DO NOT USE less than 2 months before shearing or fibre collection


Note: The withholding period for meat applies only to meat destined for the Australian domestic market. Some export markets apply different standards which may require an export slaughter interval. If meat from the animal on which this product is to be used may be sold outside the Australian domestic market, details of oveseas standards should be obtained prior to use of this product.
