General Instructions

OSPRAY DIURON 500 FLOWABLE HERBICIDE is a soil active herbicide for preemergent and early post-emergent treatment of weeds. It is largely root absorbed and moves upward in the xylem of the plant.

For pre-emergent control of weeds, apply to moist bare soil prior to anticipated weed germination when rain is expected within 3 to 4 days, or before irrigation.

Use a surfactant only as directed as this will increase uptake of non-target plants.

The addition of 0.125% of 100g/L non-ionic surfactant is recommended as this will improve foliar uptake of the herbicide.

This product is absorbed on charcoal and other carboniferous materials and is thereby inactivated.

Mixing

Clean spray tank of previous residues, preferably with a chemical residue remover.

Half fill the spray tank with clean water, and steadily add OSPRAY DIURON 500 FLOWABLE HERBICIDE, while agitating the mixture.

When tank mixing with Paraquat 200, add Paraquat after OSPRAY DIURON 500 has been thoroughly mixed with water. If using a surfactant, add the surfactant last.

Agitate well before spraying and maintain agitation while spraying. DO NOT pre-mix as a paste.

Clean tank thoroughly after use.

Compatibility

This product is compatible with Paraquat 200 Herbicide (see mixing instructions), MCPA 500 Selective Herbicide, & 2,4-D Amine 500 Selective Herbicide.

Restraints

DO NOT store product mix for more than 21 hours

DO NOT drain or flush equipment or spray near desirable trees or plants or on other areas - particularly slopes - as seepage may damage the roots of desirable plants.

DO NOT use on sandy, loamy or gravelly soils, unless otherwise stated, as crop damage may result.

DO NOT replant treated areas within 2 years of application unless otherwise stated.

DO NOT apply to plants under stress.

DO NOT apply if heavy rain expected within 6 hours.

Avoid spray drift and avoid using on windy days.

Resistance Warning

OSPRAY DIURON 500 FLOWABLE HERBICIDE is a member of the UREAS group of herbicides. OSPRAY DIURON 500 has the inhibitors of Photosynthesis at Photosystem II mode of action. For weed resistance management, OSPRAY DIURON 500 is a Group C herbicide.

Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to OSPRAY DIURON 500 FLOWABLE HERBICIDE and other Group C herbicides may exist through normal genetic variability in any weed population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly.

These resistant weeds will not be controlled by OSPRAY DIURON 500 or other Group C herbicides.

Since the occurrence of resistant weeds is difficult to detect prior to use, OSPRAY PTY LTD accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of OSPRAY DIURON 500 HERBICIDE to control resistant weeds.

Protection of wildlife, fish, crustaceans and environment

Do not contaminate streams and rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers.

Protection of crop, native and other non-target plants

DO NOT use on very light sandy or gravelly soils as crop damage may occur.

DO NOT replant treated areas within two years of an application of OSPRAY DIURON 500 FLOWABLE HERBICIDE except when otherwise stated on the label.

DO NOT apply under meteorological conditions or from spraying equipment which could be expected to cause spray drift onto nearby susceptible plants, adjacent crops, crop lands or pastures. This product is only selective if rates appropriate to the crop and soil type as indicated in the Directions for Use table are strictly adhered to.

DO NOT use for soil sterilisation near or under trees or shrubs.

DO NOT clean out equipment where the chemical may be washed or drained into contact with root systems of desirable plants.

Safety Directions

Will irritate the eyes. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When opening the container and preparing and using the prepared spray, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and a washable hat, and elbow-length PVC gloves. Wash hands after use. After each day's use, wash gloves and contaminated clothing.

Storage

Store in the closed, original container in a well ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Disposal

Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point.

If not recycling, break, crush or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty containers and products should not be burnt.

Refillable containers (1000L): Empty contents fully into application equipment.

Close all valves and return to point of supply for refill and storage.
