Grain protectants

Safeguarding cereals

Insects such as weevils, beetles and borers can cause serious damage to stored cereal grains. Left unchecked, infestations can lead to spoilage and loss of grain, and in some cases, make grain unsuitable for sale.

Insects can be treated with grain protectants. The choice of treatment is determined by the type of storage. For sealed facilities fumigants can be used. When unsealed storage is used, chemical protectants may be more appropriate.

FMC has a number of options to protect your grain, including:

  • Fumigation blankets
  • Fumigation tablets
