New Head of Sales for FMC Crop Protection

Creation date: 01 February 2016

FMC Crop Protection Australia welcomes George Saville as Head of Sales, Australasia, based in Sydney.

Appointed in January to lead the FMC Crop Protection sales team, George says he is looking forward to the customer facing commercial role.

“FMC has a strong pipeline of products based on new technology which will provide opportunities in the market,” he said, “but we also need to focus on remaining competitive with our core product range and adding value for our customers,” said George of his new role with FMC.

George brings a wealth of experience in the agricultural chemicals sector to FMC, with more than 25 years at Dow AgroSciences. Until recently, George was Marketing Director, Australia and New Zealand for Dow AgroSciences, responsible for leading the Agricultural Chemicals and Urban Pest Management portfolio strategy.

Growing up in New Zealand, George attended the University of Canterbury, completing a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science.

After graduating with Honours, George began his career with Dow AgroSciences in New Zealand as a Field Research Scientist in New Plymouth. He later moved to Australia as Product Development Manager and Field Research Station Manager for Dow, based in Tamworth.

George moved from Tamworth to Sydney with the company in a Regional Project Manager role for five years, before moving to Indianapolis as Global Project Manager. He returned to Australia a few years later as Regional Sales Manager for Dow, before moving into the Marketing Director role for eight years.

Until his recent appointment to Head of Sales, George was consulting to FMC on commercial projects, portfolio integration and marketing.

“George brings extensive experience in global commercial, marketing, sales, product development, R&D and project management,” said Peter Close, Country Head of FMC Australasia.

“His in-depth knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand agricultural chemicals business, products, strategies and customers will be invaluable in growing the business and providing profit opportunities for rural retailers,” Peter said.

“We believe this to be a timely appointment in line with the future direction and growth of the business.”
