Trial products show commercial promise

A recent tour of Australian trial sites by a Cheminova global technical team has shown promising results for commercialisation of a number of new products.

Cheminova overhauled their entire product range in 2013 and increased the focus on product development, running a large number of screening trials to assess suitable products.

European visitors Barrie Hunt, Cheminova Global Herbicide Technical Manager and Luigi Burri, Regional International Technical Manager, recently toured a number of the local trial sites. They were escorted by Cheminova Australia's Portfolio Manager Cameron Clarke and resident Technical Consultant Peter Del Santo.

Several of the projects visited will produce research outcomes that will contribute to the likely commercialisation of Cheminova proprietary molecules in Australia” said Cameron Clarke. “Good moisture conditions in southern Australia meant most trial sites provided good data for contribution to APVMA registration packages.”

Commercialisation of these projects is expected to start contributing to the Cheminova Australia business from 2016 onwards.

The majority of the sites visited were herbicide trials facilitated by contractors from Peracto, Eurofins, Classy Solutions, Westgate Research and Select Ag Services.

The Cheminova entourage were hosted across the country by Cheminova Australia Regional Sales Managers Julien Pearce, Adam Brinkmann, Kerryn Hayes, Hugh Palmer and Stuart Moncrieff.

The group also visited the University of Adelaide Roseworthy campus where they assessed several trial sites with Dr Sam Kleemann. This was of particular interest to Cheminova’s European visitors who gained valuable information on Australian cropping systems from one of Australia’s leading weed scientists.

The learnings from the trial tour, and generated data from the Australian trials, are expected to be used by Cheminova in other global regions.
