Seed dressings

Controlling seed-borne disease

Seed-borne diseases are fungal infections that affect a wide range of cereal crops, contaminating seed, soil or both. They can also infect the seedling, leaves and harvested grain.

Seed dressing helps control seed borne diseases. Seeding fungicides are applied to the seed itself or mixed with liquid or compound fertiliser and applied in-furrow.

Seed dressings can be used to:

  • Provide protection from seed borne diseases such as smuts and bunts
  • Suppress or control fungal root rots
  • Reduce seedling infections of leaf disease such as wheat leaf and stripe rusts, powdery mildew and barley scald
